Effect of inosine on red cell preservation.

چکیده
to be the same. However, since some samples of blood stored in ACDI in the present study did give satisfactory survival results at 35 and 42 days, it has been suggested that red cells of different individuals may vary in their ability to withstand prolonged storage. It should be noted that the purine nucleosides are metabolized to uric acid. While in healthy volunteers the transfusion of450 ml of blood was without apparent toxicity, the effect of multiple transfusions is not known. The possible toxicity of these purine compounds is under investigation at this time.

Adenine in Red Cell Preservation
Purine nucleosides have been reported to extend the preservation of red cells stored in acid citrate dextrose (ACD) (1-6). This effect was originally attributed to the production of phosphorylated ribose as an energy substrate within the erythrocyte (7-9) through the action of nucleoside phosphorylase (10). This enzyme was shown to act on inosine, guanosine (11, 12), and on adenosine after its ...
متن کاملMetabolic dependence of red cell deformability.
The contribution of the metabolic state of human erythrocytes to maintenance of cellular deformability was studied during and after in vitro incubation in serum for periods up to 28 hr. An initial loss of membrane deformability became apparent between 4 and 6 hr when cellular adenosine triphosphate (ATP) levels were approximately 70% of initial values. Membrane deformability then remained stabl...
متن کاملThe Mechanism of Action of Adenine in Red Cell Preservation * YOSHIKI SUGITA t AND ERNEST
Nakao and his associates have demonstrated that when blood, which had previously been stored at 40 C for 8 to 10 weeks in acid-citratedextrose (ACD), was subsequently incubated at 370 C with both adenine and inosine, regeneration of ATP and restoration of post-transfusion viability took place (1-3). ATP regeneration did not occur when the incubation medium contained either adenine or inosine al...
متن کاملInduction of apoptosis by novel inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase, 3-hydrogenkwadaphnin
Today’s medical word is highly dependent on severel natural products (e.g. taxol) in fighting different kinds of cancer and in constantly working to found new compounds. In this respect, 3-hydrogenkwadaphnin is a new diterpene ester isolated from Dendrostellera lessertii (Thymelaceae). It has been previously shown that this new compound has high anti-tumor activity and the capability of arresti...
متن کاملP-121: Cloning and Expression of The Inosine Triphosphate Pyrophosphatase Gene Variant II in E.coli
Background Environmental and cellular inappropriate conditions can cause damages to cells nucleotide poll. Deamination and oxidation damages interfere with cells vital reactions. Inosine triphosphate pyrophosphatase (ITPA), an evolutionary conserved enzyme, plays a critical role in elimination of non-canonical bases. In human genome, the ITPA gene is located on chromosome 20 short arm and tran...
